Establishing Community Monitoring Committees in DRC
In many parts of eastern DRC, community-led monitoring is proving essential in strengthening Ebola response efforts. Because of your support, community monitoring committees are being established and empowered to play an active role in surveillance and prevention.
These committees consist of respected local members who are trained to observe health trends, promote awareness, and report suspected cases to health authorities. They serve as a bridge between communities and formal health systems.
As a result, detection of potential cases is becoming faster and more efficient. Communities are more engaged, and there is increased trust in reporting mechanisms.
These committees also help reinforce prevention messages, ensuring that accurate information is consistently shared at the grassroots level.
