We’ve had a lot going on with all of our Globalteer projects worldwide, but we’d like to give you an update about what has been going on at a few of our projects in Peru.
Our Picaflor House Community Project has been running smoothly all year, but this month we have something extra special for our kids. We are installing a brand-new playground! Thanks to a generous donor, we’ve received the funds to build a new park on the Picaflor grounds, and it is long overdue. Our old playground equipment was looking kind of tired and sad. We’re excited to be able to offer the kids a more stimulating, safe park to play on during their free time.
Also near Oropesa, where Picaflor House is located, we have begun a brand-new Women’s Empowerment programme. We will be helping local women and families from small, rural, impoverished villages to start small business initiatives. We will be providing them with the equipment and training for raising guinea pigs, which are a common source of protein in the Peruvian Andes, and they can be quite lucrative when farmed. The women in the first village we will be starting with are quite excited and motivated to begin earning an income to support their families. We will provide more updates once the programme is in full swing!
Furthermore, at our Peru Animal Welfare Society (PAWS) project, we are still looking to procure and outfit a vehicle for a mobile clinic. With this vehicle, we could reach and treat the stray dogs in the more rural areas of Cusco, where attention is most needed. This is an essential step for us achieving our goal of addressing the stray dog population and reducing animal suffering in Cusco.
We still continue to welcome volunteers weekly to each of our wonderful projects. For more information about any of our Peru projects, please visit www.globalteer.org.
Thank you for taking the time to read our update, and as always, thank you for your continued, invaluable support. If you would like to donate, and we hope you do, please visit our page to do so!
