The story of one Angel

By Rina Lazo | Director of Benefactor Services

Angel lives with his parents and his has a sister in Jocotenango, Sacatepéquez. His mother is very young and she has been taking care of both children by herself since Angelito’s dad is always drinking and he is not responsible of supporting them. Since Angelito was born, she didn’t have any money to afford any baby formulas to feed him. She was not able to breastfed and she decided to buy regular milk since it was cheaper to feed Angelito.

When Mrs. María realized that Angelito wasn’t gaining weight and looked very little and thin, she decided to come by herself to Casa Jackson and ask for help. She was worried to have him get sick or even worst, died.

The mom, left her baby with us and she went back home to take care of her little girl and to find something to work on, so she can save some money to have the necessary things for Angelito when he is discharge from Casa Jackson.

When Angel arrived, he weighed just 8.5 pounds and was severe malnourished. Upon observation, he was very tired and slept a lot. He is a very calm boy and he seems to enjoy music. He has been in Casa Jackson less than a week but he is doing good, he eats well and he is gaining weight fast. Currently he is weighing 9.3 pounds which is very good for him.

His mother is always aware of him and calling the nurses very often asking for news about her little angel, even though she doesn’t have the resources to give him the necessary thing to have him be a healthy baby, she knows that he is well taken care of in Casa Jackson.

Angelito is doing great since he was admitted in Casa Jackson. He had gain weight. He is weighing 10.6 pounds and measuring 56.5 centimeters. He just turned 4 months old. He has had a great improvement; he’s always smiling and moving in his crib. He doesn’t like to be in it and he loves to be hold.

His mother is working hard to earn some money and be prepared to receive him back home. She is very concern to give him the best and she has demonstrated to be responsible. She’s always here for visit days and always asking for him on the phone.

Angelito is getting to his normal weight since he’s always eating well and asking for more formulas when he´s done with his bottle. He is very active and sometimes he looks like if he would like to start crawling.
