You did it! Last week we transferred all necessary finances to Mah Di´s orphanage, and construction will begin the 1st of June! You will get a full account in the microproject report. For now, let´s catch up with Mah Diana´s report from March.
DEAR DONORS
Mah di’s orphanage is delighted to forward you the activities that took place at the orphanage in March 2017:
MEETINGS:
Coordination meeting on the 13th March 2017 organized by the regional Delegate of Social Affairs. Attended by the funder- Mah Fonebong Diana
The following papers were presented:
a) The general rules and regulations of the Cameroon public service
b) Report format on program performance
c) Writing of report of activities in the context of program budgeting
d) Professionalism in social work- the stakes challenges and benefits
e) Management of Adolescent crisis in institutions
Meeting for the preparation of the day of the African child come 16/06/17 was hold at the Kumba Social Affairs to plan for that day.
Meeting for the regional Platform of orphanages and homes was held at Wotutu and was attended by the founder. Many orphanage leaders come together to discuss our problems and learn from each other.
CHILDREN’S MEETING:
Meeting was held with junior children age range 3-12 years. Another meeting was held with the senior children 15-22 years. Children resolved their little conflicts and discussed about the share of work in the house.
CONSTRUCTION:
The house that services as nursery 1 & 2 is now raised up with blocks and is up to the level of lifting the protectors. [No more wood planks!] The technician worked with the senior orphans, and children aged 9-12 were helping. They help with small tasks, nothing above them. They carry a small load of sand or help plaster the wall. [This is seen as an educative process, and this philosophy is the reason why orphans aged 18 of Mah Di’s are able to carry out construction jobs by themselves]
FISHPOND:
With joy in our heart we say thank you our donors. We are able to prepare three new fish ponds that will carry about 2.500 fish because you taught us to do it.
VISIT:
We had visitors in and out of the town. They donated the following:
a) Food
b) Dresses
c) Finance for the up-keep of the orphanage
Also, an underprivileged lady, partly blind and her 8 year old completely blind daughter visited us and we were able to support them with some food stuff, soap and finance. You the donors taught us by giving us. Thank you for teaching us to give.
LEISURE:
During this period the children involved themselves in football and other games.
EDUCATION:
There is ghost town [general strike, no school] around our area that has stopped children from going to school. But nevertheless the orphanage introduced home studies for all children. 6 teachers are currently on hire.
FARMING:
The children and I are involved in cultivating corn, cassava, vegetables etc during this farming season.
CONCLUSIONS: donors once again we say we are very grateful for your concern. God bless you all.
