Advancing Our Community-Led Peace Network in Syria

By Faiz Alali | Projects Leader

Dear Supporter,

We are pleased to share an important update on our ongoing efforts to establish the Local Peace Resources Network in Syria, an initiative led by Space of Peace to strengthen community resilience and support locally driven peacebuilding efforts.

Our most recent consultative session brought together local organizations, volunteer teams, and community initiatives engaged in peacebuilding and social cohesion. The discussion gathered influential voices who play a vital role in easing tensions, promoting dialogue, and activating community initiatives that help people overcome the lasting impacts of conflict.

Participants explored the crucial role of peacebuilding programs in rebuilding community relationships, restoring trust, and countering hate speech. They also shared real examples of how local actors address everyday conflicts and encourage cooperation among diverse community members.

The session highlighted the importance of integrating the expertise of these local actors into the Peace Resources Network, recognizing their deep understanding of the local context and their ability to reach vulnerable groups. Discussions also focused on designing a flexible, inclusive network that enables knowledge exchange, coordination of initiatives, and the development of practical tools to strengthen cohesion, reduce community-level violence, and support sustainable peace.

These continuous dialogues reflect our firm belief that lasting peace begins at the community level—and that empowering local peace actors is a fundamental step toward building stronger, more collaborative, and more resilient communities.

Thank you for standing with us as we build a future where peace grows from the strength, wisdom, and determination of local communities.

With heartfelt gratitude,
