By Tetyana Varenychenko | Project Leader
Dear Penndco Donors!
As everyone is aware, we experienced a serious storm on Wednesday, September 1, 2021.
Penndco center sustained severe flooding that has left us with a loss of 80% of our toys, therapy materials, furniture, and office equipment. We lost our Social Skills Library and sensory materials and tools. Penndco center requires to be renovated. We are working on it, and we appreciate our therapists, community supporters, and parents for their real help in this restoration process. We know that you, our donors, will help us to buy new toys, books, materials, and furniture for our children. Thank you for your understanding and support.

Literacy Master Map Program 2021-2022
By Tetyana Varenychenko | Project Leader
We would like to thank our sponsors for giving us the opportunity to host the Literacy Master Map Program again this year. Reading opens the door to many new opportunities that our kids could take advantage of.
During this class we will be building students stamina while teaching them to handle longer texts. The course will also focus on the most important aspect of reading – comprehension. It is critical that when students are reading, they are understanding what they are reading and are able to analyze the text. We will also be working on identifying themes, identifying key ideas in a text, and understanding the structure of a text. All these elements of reading are critical in developing student’s ability to handle texts independently. The class will also focus on various skills connected to writing. Students will learn how to structure their writing as well as have exposure to a variety of different types of writing. We will be working on connecting ideas to what children already know. Students will develop and expand knowledge of words and increase personal vocabulary by listening to a variety of texts. They will also express ideas or opinions in group and individual settings. The students will be exposed to reading, writing, and playing games that are developed for literacy development.
Again and again we thank our sponsors for helping us inspire young minds and develop their love for reading. Thank you Penndco Parents Committee in supporting our program.

Daily Reading is Our Goal
By Tetyana V. Varenychenko | Project Leader
Dear our Donors,
We would like to say you our special thanks in supporting our Literacy Master Map Program. We continue to support our families and children in improving reading skills. Reading age-appropriate books at home is our today's goal, and our team has supported our children to develop their interest to read the new books.
Reading specialist Ms. Maya has encouraged every student to learn the key words of the books, and to try to retell the story to the family members. Age-appropriate list of the books was sent to families, and we hope to have a summer time reading program in person. Our small classes are waiting the children to enjoy reading the books together.
Thank you the parents in supporting their children to read the books daily at home during a Covid-19 pandemic time. Developing reading skills is our goal, and we hope to have the book's discussion at classroom.
We appreciate our supporters again by saying the special Thank You! Thank you for your generous gifts in supporting the Literacy Master Map program 2020-2021.
