Challenge

According to the United Nations, 46% of the Kenyan population lives below the poverty line, earning less than $1.25 a day. Kenyan athletes focus on running as a way of escape from poverty and unemployment. Most of them also drop out of school due to lack of school fees and instead put their hope in running. Every year in Kenya there are thousands of young talented runners who start their journey to elite running but most of them quit after a few months of training due to lack of support.

Solution

We provide equipment, training facilities, training, coaching, and educational support to underprivileged athletes in Kenya. Runners are provided with academic scholarships while they pursue their running career to help them continue their education.

Long-Term Impact

Success as a runner elevates both the Kenyan athlete and their community. They are encouraged to pursue their education in general. They are opened to new opportunities when given the chance to compete in world-class marathon events. They become self-employed and play a key role in poverty eradication and the reduction of youth unemployment.
