Dear Donors,
Thank you for supporting the Training 100 Traditional Barbers on STI Prevention project. We sincerely appreciate your generosity and interest in protecting community health through prevention and education.
In many low-income communities around Abuja, traditional barbers continue to use shared cutting tools with limited access to proper disinfection materials and infection prevention knowledge. Repeated use of blades, razors, and other sharp instruments without adequate cleaning can expose community members to infections and other health risks. Children and young people are among those most frequently affected by these practices.
We are grateful for the donations received so far. However, the funds currently available are not sufficient to begin implementation of the project. Additional support is needed before training activities, educational materials, rechargeable clippers, hygiene supplies, and community outreach efforts can commence.
This project aims to train 100 traditional barbers on infection prevention, proper tool hygiene, safe grooming practices, and the importance of reducing disease transmission through shared instruments. Participants will receive practical demonstrations, educational materials, and basic equipment to help improve hygiene standards within their businesses.
Community-based prevention efforts can play an important role in reducing avoidable infections. When barbers understand how diseases can spread and have access to safer equipment, they can better protect their customers and serve as examples within their communities. Improved hygiene practices can benefit thousands of people who rely on these services each year.
We remain committed to implementing this project and continue working toward the resources needed to launch the first phase. As progress is made, we look forward to sharing updates, photographs, and stories from participating barbers and communities.
Thank you for helping promote safer hygiene practices and healthier communities.
Warm regards,
Ugbede-Ojo Dominic Kadiri
