Happy New Year!
We are back to school after a long school holiday break that went on for 10 weeks. We are excited and happy to see the children back with us, as we collectively look forward to another successful school year.
January is considered a month of new beginnings and opportunities to grow, and this year is no exception. A new year brings about welcoming new students, transitioning to the next class, creating new friendships, learning new concepts, encountering new challenges, making discoveries and much more.
This year we have admitted a total of 49 new children into the Fountains of Hope primary school.
35 children have joined the School Transition Programme which helps return to school children who have dropped out of school or children who are at risk of dropping out of school. The programme helps the children catch up with their learning as quickly as possible so that they can join their peers.
The excitement in the faces of the new students is a revelation of how they have been yearning to be in school and acquire education, which they will use to transform their community.
14 children have graduated from the Turning Point ECDE Programme into Grade 1 at the Fountains of Hope primary school.
We are delighted and proud to see the opportunities we give to the children benefit them and help them progress in life. As an organization, we remain committed to providing quality education to these children, as we watch their lives transform and hopes restored.
In 2024, we plan to focus on extra-curricular activities and talent nurturing by reviving the after-school clubs like health club, environment club, journalism, scouting, debate and drama by participating in organized school competitions and events and partnering with other schools in Kibera to run extra-curricular activities etc. Our goal is to develop the whole child by exposing the students to activities outside of the classroom to help grow their interests and talents.
We are grateful to you for your generous support towards providing a quality and holistic education to vulnerable children in Kibera. Through your partnership, we have successfully impacted the lives of over 1000 children in the past 20 years. We invite you to continue supporting us in transforming the lives of more children leading them to break out from the cycle of poverty.
