An urgent appeal to save 2 girls from traffickers

By Sumedha Sharma | Project Leader

Dear Global Givers,

Through your continued support, we shared an update earlier that Pooja and Kiran (name changed) have been enrolled in a boarding school. Finally, after months of online classes, the girls will leave for the boarding school.

Pooja and Kiran are thrilled that the boarding school is opening soon and they are both excited to meet their new friends with whom they interacted during online classes. For the past two years, they have remained confined in the four walls of their tiny homes, with one mobile phone to share between their siblings to attend online classes. The boarding school will not only ensure in providing education but a safe environment for the girls to learn and grow.

The aftermath of the pandemic amongst the rural poor continues to be a challenge. Loss of livelihood has made many families to make a difficult choice to stop their daughters to go to school. Even though Pooja and Kiran are few amongst the fortunate ones to be able to continue with their education, they still have many challenges and needs to overcome. Without your support, these young girls would have ended up in brothels for commercial sex work along with their aunts and we cannot imagine what life would have been for Pooja and Kiran.

We are grateful that through your support we were able to pay for their education fees. However, going to the boarding school means they will have to incur additional expenses in purchasing personal utility items such as bedsheets, hygiene and sanitation kit etc. The parents of these girls are barely able to make their ends meet and will not be able to support their daughters in any way.

iPartner India is working hard to raise additional funds to support the girls in purchasing personal utilities to start off their new journey at the boarding institute. These girls have dreams and aspirations and it is only when we come together, we can give them a chance in life to choose a life that is far better and different from what their mothers have endured before them.

Thank you, Global Givers, we remain humbled for your continued support and walking this journey with us to ensure that no girls are left behind on our watch.

With deep gratitude,
Team iPartner India
