Learning Centre for waste pickers children, India

Dear Friends

Season Greetings and happy New Year 2022 to you and your loved ones from BASS Learning centre, Guntur.  

Thank you so much for your kind generous donation to this project.  We are very happy to inform you that finally we were able to start a transformational creative learning centre for waste picker children in a waste picker community location, Guntur in the first week of August 2021. 

 We have started the Learning centre in a hut, 45children are coming to the centre every day in the morning and in the evening.  Every morning we are providing nutritional breakfast and occasionally evening providing dinner to all the children.

We have appointed two part time working teachers and one cook cum care taker.  Our teachers are improving the skills in basic and primary education to all the children, previously these children were out of schools and never enrolled. But with the support of our centre children are regularly attending the formal government schools day time and evening time they are  attending in our learning centre from 5.30 to 8 P.M. The parents of the children were very happy to send the children to the learning centers since their huts do not have electricity.  

With the efforts of our Volunteers and staff, the Guntur district Joint collector,  , Dinesh Kumar has been visited our Learning  centre and the waste picker families  and celebrated DIWALI ( Lights) festival with children in November 2021. He generously provided new clothes and sweets to the children. This is a great event for the children with us.

To operate this centre we required at least   US$ 400 per one month to pay staff salary and one breakfast daily.    

We humbly requesting you to kindly join with us in this New Year 2022 to give a hope to care and educate the unprotected waste picker children in Guntur, Andhra Pradesh, India
