We deeply appreciate your generous support for the BASS After School Learning Centres in Guntur, India.

For the past two years, our project on GlobalGiving has focused on providing quality education and essential life skills to underprivileged children aged 5 to 18 in three slums within Guntur. Currently, we operate three after-school learning centres staffed by qualified teachers who assist the children with their homework, teach various subjects, and serve as mentors to nurture their self-esteem and social development.

Thanks to your contributions, we have positively impacted the lives of 150 children. Their progress has been remarkable, and we are incredibly proud of their achievements. Since the academic year began on June 12th, the children have been attending the centres daily in the evenings, showing significant improvement in their recent term exams. Their educational standards have risen, and attendance in regular schools has also increased.

However, we have not received any donations in the past four months, which has made it challenging to maintain operations. Despite this, we continue to keep the centres running. The funds are crucial for covering rent, educational materials, staff salaries, and providing nutritious snacks or meals for the children. Each centre requires a minimum of $350 per month to operate effectively.

We earnestly request your assistance in this noble cause. By supporting us, you can make a meaningful difference in the lives of these children, helping to prevent them from falling into child labor, dropping out of school, or losing hope.

Warm greetings from BASS, India!

We are delighted to share the inspiring journey of our Learning Centre for the children of waste picker families in Guntur, from May 2024 to August 2024. Established to provide 50 children with the opportunity for education, our centre has become a beacon of hope in the slum, successfully operating for the past two years.

Our centre runs two sessions daily: 7-8:30 AM and 5-7:30 PM. With the dedication of two passionate teachers, our children not only excel in academics but also acquire essential life skills. Their eagerness to learn is evident as they attend with bright smiles each day.

We are proud to celebrate the success of 40 children who are now thriving in local schools. Their attendance and participation have soared, and they no longer engage in waste picking. Their confidence has blossomed, and their parents have become strong advocates of this educational journey.

The new academic year commenced in the second week of June 2024, and all our children have been promoted to the next classes, showing remarkable progress in their classroom subjects. Our centre provides breakfast and an evening meal to the children. The teachers not only focus on academic education but also guide the children and their parents in life skills.

Unfortunately, from the Last week week of August, severe heavy rains have affected the area, flooding the families’ homes and damaging their living huts. They are now facing a dire situation with no food, water, and lost household items. Many are taking refuge in their homes and our centre. Please help the waste picker families with food groceries and shelter kits.  

Despite these challenges, funding remains tight. With just $150 this quarter, every penny has been a lifeline. Your generosity can illuminate the path for these 50 stars.
