Dear Friends and donors,
Many greetings and good wishes to you from BASS Learning centre for waste picker family’s children, Guntur
This learning centre is working for the welfare of the 50 children who identify as child labour at slum in Guntur for the waste picker families living area. Most of the families depend upon collecting waste in the slums to survive. And the children also go along with the parents to collect the waste to add income their families.
Therefore, we were started this learning centre to prevent child labour and protect children and admitting into the regular formal schools. Our learning centre operates in the morning from 7 am to 8.30 Am and evening 5 p.m. to 730 P.M. Two qualified teachers are working here to care of the children and guiding them for best behaviour, teaching them in all class wise subjects and completing their homework. 40 Children are already admitted in local formal schools, the children's attendance is improved in local regular primary and high schools. And children are performing well in the regular schools. We are very happy that all the children stopped going for waste picking with their parents.
Due to malnutrition, children did not grow properly here, therefore we are continuously providing daily breakfast in the morning and an evening meal to the children. And also started to give nutrient Ragi Malt every day for best growth.
Now we are very happy to see that about 40 children have become healthy, growing well and learning life skills with good behaviour, best habits and formal education. Their parents also like to send their children to go schools and our learning centre. Children stop to go for waste picking with their parents.
During this quarter, children celebrated Diwali festival, Christmas, New Year and Sankranti festival.
We are very happy that the Local authorities from the government, social workers and other likeminded people are visiting the centre and appreciating the services of this learning centre.
This learning centre is required to continue with daily breakfast and evening meals with best education to improve studies and behaviour of 50 children.
This project received only below 50$ during this quarter. We are very much difficult to operate the project with our other local support.
We humbly request you to kindly support this project to continue to serve 50 children.
Thank you
with Gratitude
