Dear Supporters, Friends and Family of Serendipity Healthcare Foundation,
Making water a woman's business is key to the success of access to the fundamental human right to water. Everyday a woman is saddled with the responsibility to source for water for her household and thus when policies are being made to install a water source in a community, shouldn't she the one to be asked questions on the design of the water source needed, how safe is it for the children when they are sent to source for water and of course the proximity to the water source such that there is enough time available for the children to go to school on time and enough time left for the women to do other chores.
It was on this premise that we held a stakeholders meeting with a community in Rangaza in Dakata area of Kano with the community leaders, women group, and the only school within the location to deliberate on the how to provide access to water for the community. The meeting was held and it was decided that a water source be located just in front of the school as the community school is run by females only, had no access to water and it wasa located in the center of the community. This decision will serve a total number of 1587 community members due to the advantage of being in the center and the children will stay in school instead of the excuse of going far into other communities to search for water.
A wise decision was made and a steering committee that involved all stakeholders inclusive of our team was set up for impact assessment, monitoring and evaluation.
We could not not done this without your help and support and thus we say a BIG THANK YOU for the confidence reposed in us to provide life changing solutions to our communities. More solutions need to be done and we would appreciate more support to make a change in our communities so that girls stay in school, our community members are safe from the virus and effects of COVID 19 and women play a contributory role in supporting their house hold income as they have more time to do other chores.
