Wigs for a smile

Dear supporters,

You were probably wondering, many times, what happens to wigs once they fulfill their supportive purpose? Well, sometimes they are retired permanently, and recycled but more often than not, they are upcycled for continuous or new use. 

Our crafty wig-makers repair the missing hairs, the torn threds, and thinned seams and the old wig continues its journey accompaying its owner hard times, making those sad days a little bit happier with each reflection in the mirror. Together with the ill child, it makes its impact where it is needed most - in the soul.

Thank you for supporting us during these difficult, pandemic times. We know there are a lot of other ways you could have spent this money, so we feel privileged that you chose to invest in our work. You are now part of our community and we're honored to have you.

Dear supporters,

Our wig-maker Fuad has made and handed over 6 wigs since we last updated you on our project in June, and is currently working on more hair pieces for children with cancer or alopecia around Bosnia and Herzegovina. The 6 wigs went Ljubuški, Sarajevo, and Tuzla (4 recipients) and there are no words to express the joy and happiness of those girls who have finally received their pieces. We are attaching the photos of this fine craftsmanship so you, also, can appreciate the meticulous work and love Fuad has put in making them.

But the emphasis of this report is on the growth of our wig-team. Senada has joined the wig-making workshop and is currently in training to become an independent wigmaker. She has passed 80% of the wig-making curriculum and has been of great help to Fuad in recent months. She has helped sort, classify, and prepare hair for the wig making process and is currently learning the wefting and the ventilating technique. 

Also, we want to thank all our hair donors - all 8334 of them for bringing a smile to someone's face, without even knowing them. We thank them for each piece of their soul that they dedicated to this project.
