Empower a Girl: For Self-Reliance

After two years of formally registration of Kole Intellectual Forum with Kole District Local Government (from 2016 -2017); it had not been so easy for the promoters of the organization to increase the visibility of the organization at both local, national and international level; however, in 2018, that is when the organization started to engage into partners with a number of organizations leading to its visibility to both national and international level.

Firstly with GlobalGiving: when in March 2018, the organization went through the GlobalGiving Accelerator; and because of its commitment with GlobalGiving, the organization (Kole Intellectual Forum) today, has been awarded with four badges: Vetted, effective, top ranked, and site visit.  Although, the ranking fluctuates depending on how committed the organizations’ officials are engaging the organization to GlobalGiving principles; it is not surprising that today 3^rd Dec, 2019, the organization is ranked No. 3 of all the projects of more than 5000 projects that GlobalGiving has on its website; the link is: http://goto.gg/31562

Secondly, within the same month and year – 2018; Twaweza East Africa was able to identify Kole Intellectual Forum among all the Nonprofit Organizations within Kole District and entered into agreement with it, as the Kole District partner’s organization. Twaweza East Africa assigned the organization the task of running up their program in the name of UWEZO (Research work); the task was successfully completed by Kole Intellectual Forum and other 31 organizations in different districts in Uganda. The photos above and below are those of the invited guests and District coordinators at Hotel Africanan, Kampala, Uganda, on the 19^th Nov 2019; launching the research work that had been successfully completed of which Kole Intellectual Forum is a part of.

Through counseling and empowering communities’ mindset, Kole Intellectual Forum is helping communities of Angic and Aumi of Angic public primary school and St. Benedictine Nursery and primary school respectively; to work through, their education problems or difficulties that has engulfed the region for decades; by empowering their mind set to embrace value of education through community creative capacity building.

The two communities, with the initiative of Kole Intellectual Forum; in the frequent meetings that is held after every two weeks; they have agreed to start up income generating projects that will be helping them to support the education system of their children.

For instance, with the support of community of Angic, Angic upper and lower cells; they have started up youth empowerment project, in the name of Youth Empowerment Project Angic – I; they have raised some fund, enough to start up youth welding workshop, and registered it with Bala sub-county, Kole district Northern Uganda; meanwhile those of Aumi community have chosen to support women project; they are also in the process of documentation.

Kole Intellectual Forum therefore is confident that, with your support (the donors, advocates, and well wishers; the mindset of these communities to value formal education will soon be transformed.
