Updates On Women's Rights in 28 Villages in Cameroon, Africa

By Giddy, Celine, Loveline, Bertrand, Dr. Sam, Raymon | Team Representatives

Greetings To All Of Our Donors And Supporters;

We would like to thank all of our donors and supporters who have helped us to provide services and resources to many individuals who are blessed and fortunate that they live in an area where we provide services.  During the past 90 days there were many postive things that we are able to report happened within our organization  as a result of hard work and dedicated staff and volunteers despite the fact that we are still dealing with violent attacks from rebels who continue to engage in Civil War with our government. We have expanded our affiliation with friends in Liberia, Africa and looking forward to networking and collaborating with other African countries.

First we would like to report that the Tyrone Library in Tyrone Georgia donated a large number (almost 100lbs) of books to the JRCCA Village Library in Cameroon, Africa with the support of the Tyrone Georgia Rotary Club.  With the donation of these books our women will be able to access information needed to assist them with their development of specific busines skills as they go through Vocational Training for self improvement.  Expected arrival date for the books to the Guest House is in June of 2023.

Secondly,  the highlight of this quarter's report is the outstanding  successful work reported by our Women Empowerment Director of JRCCA who was able to visit with volunteers in the field who had come out of hiding in the jungle to attend the 2nd annual anniversary of our founder on April 23, 2023 to visit, dance, sing and enjoy a long overdue hot meal.  After spending a week on the Memorial Site before the annual celebration she had collaborated with the local women to ensure that the celebration would be a success. Over 1000 friends and family attended this week long celebration of the late Pa John.  For those volunteers who could not attend the live event in Zang Tabi at the Memorial Site, provision were made for them to hold separate celebration by Zoom at our BHO Office in Yaounde and with our affiliate in Liberia, Africa on Sunday, April 23, 2023.

One week after returning to Yaounde from the memorial celebration our Women Empowerment Director learned of the passing of the daughter of our President.  She said I left Yaounde on May 4, 2023, arrived Bamenda on the May 5, 2023, I went to the Event Chairman's house located near the Memorial Site at the JRCCA World HQ.  On Saturday May 6, 2023 the wife of the Chairman and I, prepared food and carried it to the village for the burial of JRCCA President's daughter. We gave the food and water to the President. After the burial all the SNT groups brought their support, 4000frs ($8) from each SNT that's 12000frs ($24) and BHO contributed 23500frs ($47). All together, a total of 35500frs( $71) was handed to the President. All the SNT groups in Zone One  danced one common dance to mourn our daughter and to show the togetherness that we are. After dancing, food and water was served to all the SNT members. During refreshment, we now announced for everyone to meet at the Guest House in a"JRCCA American Corner in Kwojeoh Momo Division" for a Special SNT meeting on Thursday May 11, 2023.  I also assisted our President during the burial of our late sister.

On Thursday May 11, 2023, all the SNT groups members in Zone One met at the Guest House in Kwojoh Teseh Zang Tabi village for our planned SNT Meeting.  The meeting started at 3pm with 50 members present. The meeting lasted for 2 hours. Agenda of the meeting was approved by members. The moderator was myself the WE Director.  A Word came from the Women Empowerment Department which I am the leader. I started by thanking God for bringing everyone, I said the purpose of the meeting is to form committees to create a vocational training and on agriculture project that will be supported in collaboration with our Satellite Rotary Club and our Sister NGO JRFIUSA, that will create jobs for the Women, girls , youths,  boys in the communities and all five( 5) zones that we serve. Also to Educate everyone to gain knowledge and skills such as small business, vocational skill,learn on the job training, because our people perish because of lack of knowledge. JRCCA teaches people how to catch fish and we give fish for life, promote hard work commitment,integrity resulting in successful SMART GOALS and ACTION STEPS over the next 3 to 5 years.

Before forming the committees some questions came up from members which are: (1) is there any limited budget for each committee for the project, if yes how much, (2) What are the benefits of the members, (3) Does project come in from all the SNT groups from the villages, or it's only from the WHQ (4)  Can one person belong to two committees? After that all the commuters were formed. The following committees were formed: (1) Health committee  (2) Education committee (3) Maize committee (4) Beans committee  (5) Piggy committee (6) Poultry committee  (7) Plantain and Banana committee. (8) Construction,  (9) Renovation and  (10) Maintenance.  After forming these committees, members proposed Tuesday for each committee to submit their budget and it was agreed by all. All the SNT groups took a family picture showing our togetherness. The meeting ended at 5pm with 61 participants, and with light refreshment.

 On May 13, 2023, I visited two SNT groups in Zone Three ( 3), I visited JRCCA Success Network Team (SNT) in Kob and met with some members at the Tad market and talked about the Vocational Training and Agriculture Project that is going to start at the WHQ, I explained to them the importance of the vocational training, this will help create job in the community for both boys and girls and women. They appreciated it and said they are ready to join.

I left and went to SNT Njinibi and gave the rice that was given to them, I also talked about the Vocational Training  and Agriculture  Project in the WHQ in Tuseh Zang Tabi village. Other visitors who were present ask if they could form their own group in South West Region? I said yes. The members were very grateful and appreciated it, many thanks to Chairman of JRCCA/JRFIUSA who delivered on his promise that as President of the Tyrone Rotary Club/USA that he would deliver a Satellite Rotary Club to Cameroon, Africa that would help us meet our SMART GOALS and ACTION STEPS in promoting the legacy of our founder Pa John in all five zones in 28 Villages that we serve in Cameroon, Africa and Liberia.  We have also been approved to attend and serve on United Nation Committee thanks to the work of or Barrister and Chairman.

On Tuesday May 16, 2023, all the SNT Leaders met at the ZD's resident to submit their proposed budgets following all the committees that were formed. All the proposed budgets are hand written which I collected to bring to the BHO for processing by our foundation/fund raising committee.   We will get the job done using our SNT Model, OJT Model and Onsite Face to Face Classes, Zoom and the Iternet.  She returned to Yaounde on May 17, 2023.

Our Women Empowerment Director reported that the need is great and that she will try to visit with the WE Leaders in person at least once monthly at the World Headquarters as we begin to identify the participants and vendors who will be a part of this project over the next five years.  We are still in a War Zone and Bullets or still flying through the air.  A gift or donation of any size will help us help many of these individuals who are still in hiding in the jungles impacted by a Crisis that has been ongoing for more than five years and has disrupted the normal patterns of living including the closing of schools.  We are thanking you in advance for your generous support and donations to help defray the cost of implementing the Vocational Training and Agricultural Project for Women, Girls, Boys and Youth who are being left behind in our society.

Thank you for your response!

Sincerely

Women Empowerment Committee
