Dear donor,
How are you?
Here at Instituto Fazendo História, we work hard to promote the global development of children and adolescents living in shelters, empowering them to take control of and transform their life stories.
When they turn 18 and must leave the shelter where they live, they face a new challenge. We work very close to each young adult of our group, helping them to navigate in the transition to an independent life, assisting them in the search for purpose, a job, housing, and how to exercise their citizenship.
Today, we would like to share an interesting story about one of the young women participating in the “Grupo Nos” program, which fills us with enthusiasm and makes us believe that we are on the right track. We hope you feel the same excitement.
A. is 17 years old, outgoing and friendly. She recently got her first job as a young apprentice in the legal department of a company, and she is thrilled about it. Getting a job at this time of the pandemic was quite difficult, but extremely important for A., since she will be discharged from the shelter where she lives very soon, and will have to pay for her expenses.
In the last four months, the “Grupo Nós” program has assisted 46 young people through group meetings every two weeks and 26 young people through individual sessions, providing emotional, professional, and material support. In addition, we have assisted an average of 5 young people every week through counseling and support sessions, summing a total of 80 assistances.
Because of the coronavirus pandemic, the program continues to work essentially promoting activities through platforms that allow virtual meetings. We offered smartphones and tablets, along with internet access for those who needed that support to take part in the meetings.
We would like to thank you for choosing our project and the trust you put on our work. Your support makes our project a reality.
