Empowering Youth: Voices and Futures

By Natalia Yukari | Program Coordinator

Dear donors,

We hope this message finds you well and inspired for the journey ahead.

Thanks to your incredible support, we are pleased to share the latest updates from the project Helping Sheltered Adolescents Live a Worthy Life, a core part of the Grupo Nós program.

Recognition for Our Work: Human Rights and Diversity Seal
We proudly started the year by receiving, once again, the Human Rights and Diversity Seal, awarded by the City of São Paulo. This is the third time Grupo Nós has been recognized, reaffirming the impact of our work in preparing adolescents to transition from institutional care to independent living with dignity. This initiative currently supports 47 adolescents living in care services, offering real opportunities to develop autonomy, identity, and future prospects.

Dialogue on Housing Access and Youth Independence
At the beginning of the year, we welcomed Beatriz Rodrigues and Ricardo Vinicius, activists from the housing movement, for an essential conversation about housing programs such as CDHU (Companhia de Desenvolvimento Habitacional e Urbano – a public company that provides subsidized housing for low-income families in São Paulo) and Pode Entrar (a municipal program aimed at expanding access to affordable housing). Access to decent housing is a fundamental step toward ensuring security and opportunities for young people transitioning into adulthood. We remain committed to advocating for pathways that guarantee this right.

Training: Domestic and Sexual Violence Against Children and Adolescents
We hosted an important training session at Casa Preta Hub with over 20 professionals from care services involved with Grupo Nós and Grupo Nós + Educação. Led by Sandra Paulino, a social worker and specialist on the topic, the session reflected on the different types of violence, their impacts on the teams, and the importance of ongoing preparation to address these realities with sensitivity and responsibility.

Strengthening Voices and Building Autonomy: New Activities and Reflections
In recent months, adolescents engaged in activities focused on developing life skills and autonomy. They reflected on public policies and the rights protection system and created and presented their Life Projects through videos, podcasts, music, and poetry—a powerful journey of self-discovery and expression.

These experiences strengthen educational and personal skills, self-esteem, a sense of belonging, and the ability to envision and build a possible future.

Grupo Nós Recommends: "Egressos" Documentary
We invite everyone who supports this cause to watch the documentary Egressos, available on YouTube. The film brings together testimonials from young people who have experienced institutional care, sharing their perceptions, dreams, challenges, and worldviews.
With sensitivity and respect, the documentary sheds light on life within institutions and sparks an essential conversation about the rights of children and adolescents.

Your Impact
All these advances are only possible because of your support. Thanks to you, these adolescents are not just moving forward—they are flourishing.
They are dreaming, building their futures, and discovering that they can be the authors of their own stories.

Thank you for standing by us on this journey.
Your support fuels their courage to dream and achieve.

With gratitude,
Instituto Fazendo História Team
