We would like to send a huge thank you from World Heart Beat Music Academy to everyone who donated to our projects over the Christmas period. Your support means so much to us and to the young musicians who are able to learn an instrument thanks to your generous donations.
These donations have enabled us to continue running our Music Bambinos project on Patmore estate, one of the most deprived estates in Wandsworth. Here, we have been reaching out to the local community by delivering music sessions for babies and toddlers. Our research project with Roehampton University last year found that very young children were able to learn even the most complicated rhythms, like those found in Bengali music, and proved the importance of children listening to a range of music when they are very young.
In December, we were invited to spread the Christmas spirit by performing at a community concert at the Winstanley and York road estate in Wandsworth. This was a truly beautiful community event with a range of performances including the local primary school’s first ever choir performance, World Heart Beat flute ensemble and jazz band, a saxophone quartet, an incredible guest counter-tenor and the whole community joined in singing carols.
“Just wanted to say a massive thank you to you all for helping last night be as successful as it was. Everyone who attended had nothing but good things to say and I think the children especially had a great time!”
Once again, we are very lucky to be working with Pepe and Almir who have visited us again to run special Brazilian workshops with our young musicians. We would love to invite you to a Brazilian-themed concert at World Heart Beat Music Academy this Sunday 22nd at 7:15pm where you can experience the Brazilian carnival vibe and see how much our young musicians benefit from your support.
We wish you all a very Happy New Year and a fantastic 2017!
