We are pleased to offer you this news of our brand new Early Years Music project that creates opportunities to learn music from a range of cultures for children aged 0-5 and their parents. We want this age-group to have opportunities to engage with music and enjoy the positive personal and social benefits this generates, with a focus on long-term musical development. According to a recent study, there is a noticeable gap in development between children from well-off backgrounds compared to those from poor backgrounds. This gap widens through primary school years to such an extent that less affluent children rarely catch up.

Patmore Estate is one of the largest housing estates in Wandsworth and an area of extreme income deprivation, with an unemployment rate of 1 in 3 and where opportunities to engage in creative, cultural activities are few. We believe in the power that music has to change lives and reach out to those who may feel isolated, bringing joy, vitality and purpose. By bringing the Music Bambinos project into the Patmore Estate, we are connecting with parents and also very young children at this very important time in their social and musical development.
Recently, Erased Tapes Records hosted an intimate evening of piano performances in celebration of Piano Day 2016. Proceeds raised from this event were used to purchase a piano especially for the Music Bambinos project on Patmore Estate. We are immensely grateful for and inspired by this generous donation and the impact it will have on our World Heart Beat Music Bambinos project. 3 year-old Oroh came into this music space, ran straight over to the piano and started playing it, then turned to his mother and said “mum, I don’t want to go home!”
“A piano embodies so many dreams, untold stories and journeys for an entire generation of future musicians.” – Sahana Gero (Founder and Artistic Director of World Heart Beat Music Academy)
Every donation we receive towards this project makes such a difference, constantly inspiring us to continue reaching out to young people and giving them the gift of music. It has now been a year since we launched this project, and we would be very grateful to you if you are in a position to offer us another donation for this coming year.
