Effective Teacher Workshops
By Shehab Yacoobi | Project Manager
Meraj Academy is making a lasting impact on education in Afghanistan by empowering teachers through specialized workshops. These programs provide educators with innovative tools and techniques to create engaging and inclusive classrooms, even in the most challenging circumstances. By focusing on critical skills like interactive teaching methods and effective classroom management, we are helping teachers inspire the next generation of learners.
Your generous support makes this transformation possible. With your contributions, we bring in expert trainers, develop culturally relevant materials, and offer ongoing mentorship to ensure lasting success. A single well-trained teacher can impact hundreds of students throughout their career, creating ripple effects that uplift entire communities.
The results speak for themselves. Teachers who have attended our workshops report increased confidence, improved student engagement, and a renewed passion for teaching. Together, we’re not just enhancing education—we’re shaping a brighter future for Afghanistan. Thank you for being an essential part of this mission.

Group of Women teachers together in Seminar
As being a teacher isn't already one of the most difficult occupations to handle, imagine being a teacher in Afghanstan where girls and women above grade seven can no longer attend schools. It's difficult however girls below grade seven and boys still attend school, but one reoccuring problem that is being shown is that kids no longer have the attention span or the spirit to be in school.
Teachers have been struggling on figuring out how to handle this problem and bring back the spirit of kids being motivated on coming to school and determine to learn. Over these past months, AIL has learned to help teachers in this endeavor. AIL has opened up training seminars where teachers all over the country come to one of these seminars to learn from AIL staff on what mistakes they’ve been doing and what can be fixed about it for kids to once again enjoy learning.
These seminars last for several weeks and afterwards those that have attended these training seminars come back with joyus news that the skills they've learned works towards the kids, and kids are more glad to be in school ready to learn.
Thank you for your interest in helping the women and younger generation of Afghanistan!

By Elizabeth A Appleyard | Program Administrator

Meraj Academy continues to be a success with many students tuning in daily for their lessons. This educational program is broadcast on TV Meraj. The program gives access to a comprehensive 7-12th grade education via TV programs and is aimed at all students, but especially girls who are unable to attend school. Teachers are trained specifically to provide lessons through this medium. They are instructed in how to create and load content to Youtube and interact with students via social media as well as make videos for TV.
Meraj Academy has 6 programs broadcast daily. The TV station also has other programs suitable for children and youth such as health and life skills. In addition, AIL has Meraj Virtual University providing university level education.
Meraj TV receives dozens of messages from the audience every day. For example, messages are sent daily to the “Academy of Ascension" Telegram, which is a sign of students' engagement with Meraj Academay. School students send messages to this channel to solve academic problems. On YouTube, the number of subscribers of this program has increased greatly, which shows engagement of people.
Your support makes all the difference! Thank you.
