Urgent need for food aid

By Elizabeth A Appleyard | Program Administrator

Many people are in desperate need of aid in the form of food, clothing and blankets. Afghan winters are harsh and many families live day to day so any further pressure such as bad weather or social or economic turmoil stretches their resources to breaking point.

AIL reaches 10,000 people with food and other aid each year. Most recently 60 disabled and orphaned people received over 1,500 items including food, blankets and clothing. The food parcels included rice, oil, sugar and beans.

AIL staff travelled to a remote small village in the Anjil district on the Nangabad plain outside of Herat and distributed 250 items. The aid included food parcels, meat and warm clothes. The villagers were relieved to receive some help as they were short on food and other supplies. In another outing staff gave out aid to 50 families in a local village.

Thank you for your support.
