Limb amputation is a common sight in stray dogs. Living on the street without proper shelter sometimes led to deadly road accidents or diseases. Sometimes old fractures or untreated wounds can cause amputation. Life does not stop after amputation for strays, but timely treatment, proper medication and nutrition are the most important facts to recover well and lead a healthy life. Here, at Jivdaya Charitable Trust, we receive a lot of amputation cases regularly. Today, we will share a similar story with you. ‘kitu’, a beautiful stray brought to our facility with a nasty injury which already developed a maggot wound and was smelling foul. His infected swollen leg was a sight of terror. You could easily see the pain He was going through.
From the very first day ‘Kitu’ stole our hearts with his overloaded cuteness. Our clinical team did not take much time to examine the injury and concluded for the amputation. This packet of energy undergone an hour- long surgery under our clinical director’s supervision. Unfortunately, he lost his limb, but he gained a healthy life with a new loving family where he is running around all day long and wagging his tale with his three happy legs.
