Neelgai – The Indian Blue Bull, referred to as the "blue bull"  is the largest of all Asian antelopes and is one of the most commonly seen wild animals in all of India.

Neelgai stands 3 feet 7 inches to almost 5 feet tall at the shoulder. 

 A week back we had received a case of a baby Neelgai , that got separated from its mother from a nearby field,  was grazing in a field near Bakrol village.

Suddenly it was attacked by dogs and suffered severe bite injuries on its leg.

A farm labourer rescued it immediately and brought it to our hospital for treatment.

It was in too much pain but immediate first-aid and then treatment since a week has reduced her pain a lot.

Its being given antibiotics, pain-killer and regular dressing to remove the infection that spread on the lower side of her leg.

Still under medication, but is out of danger, because of 24x7 care by our vets and other staff.

Baby will be in our shelter till it stabilizes completely and then will be released in the field  with the help of Forest officials , to be re-united with its mother.

Bats are mammals of the order Chiroptera  with their forelimbs adapted as wings, they are the only mammals naturally capable of true and sustained flight.

Bats are more manoeuvrable than birds, flying with their very long spread-out digits covered with a thin membrane orpatagium. The smallest bat, and arguably the smallest extant mammal.

Various species of bats play very important ecological roles that are vital to the health of natural ecosystems and human economies.

They have a role in ecological balance & direct benefit for human society.They consume insect pests, reducing the need for pesticides.

Bats are very effective at dispersing seeds over large distances.

Every year in Ahmedabad, over 250 bats of various species suffer injuries, face displacement, and become orphan due to several human threats like habitat degradation, community intolerance due to false beliefs, and harmful festivals.

 We rescue bats with fractures, wing tears due to manja (sharp, powdered glass coated thread used to fly kites during Uttarayan kite festival), severe dehydration, and ones that are found orphaned.

If needed surgery is conducted, antibiotics given for preventing infection and regularly fed by our staff.

Once  completely recovered, they are prepared to be released in wild, their natural habitat.

They are trained in our natural habitat by keeping the infants separated from younger ones in ICU.

The young ones are kept with the adult bats to understand the survival techniques.

Finally the recovered  and trained bats are then released and rehabiliated in their natural habitat.
