Flock of Sheep hit by a Train on Diwali Night:
A flock of sheep met with a major accident with a train, near an unmanned crossing at Sanand. The sheep were waiting patiently for the crossing to open but were spooked by an impatient car driver who bumped into the flock causing them to run in front of the approaching train. 25 of them were killed on the spot and quite a few were injured. This happened late on Diwali night when not much help was around. Members of Vedna Foundation and our admin department rushed there to extend their support to these poor badly injured animals. Vedna Foundation provided immediate first aid and along with local villagers helped bring the ones who were in worse condition to our organisation Jivdaya for further treatment and surgery.
We received 6 sheep late that night, of which 1 succumbed to its injuries soon after being brought in. 1 of the sheep was heavily pregnant and she had sustained injuries on her belly and flank. She had to be operated on immediately. Our vet operated on her, managing to get the premature baby out and repair the torn muscles and tissue inside to try and save her life. The surgery ended by 2:30 AM. By noon the next day, the sheep was back on her feet.
Treatment for all the injured sheep ended by 4:30 AM in the morning.
The others have also sustained various major injuries, internally and externally. Another one of them had her leg cut off partially and then had to be operated on to save her life. Post amputation she is recovering slowly and gradually. The remaining three were unable to stand due to traumatic injuries sustained on their hind legs and spine.
Constant medication, follow-up and nutrition along with physiotherapy worked and now all the four are healthy, moving and ready to be released into their natural location.
Their healthy recovery video is attached here with the report.
Kudos!!!! to our team of Doctors, para-medical staff, Admin dept and Vedna foundation team to rescue these unfortunate injured lives and make them stand on their feets after hard work, patience, skill and diligence.
Without your financial support such grim and emergency cases would never have been tackled successfully.
Thankyou very much for always helping us by donating generously to carry on with our work of saving distressed
innocent lives .
