Details of Canine Distemper
Canine distemper is a virus that affects a dog’s respiratory, gastrointestinal, respiratory and central nervous systems, as well as the conjunctival membranes of the eye. Canine Distemper is infectious disease.
Symptons
The signs of canine distemper include sneezing, coughing and thick mucus coming from the eyes and nose. Fever, lethargy, sudden vomiting and diarrhea, depression and/or loss of appetite are also symptoms of the virus.
Prevention
Timely vaccination series of the dog should be done.
Such patients are supposed to be accommodated in isolation area so that is should protect other surrounding dogs.
We were able to treat a total of 158 new cases. New cases treated by vans: A1 - 45, A2 - 57, A3 – 56; and follow up cases were: A1 – 35, A2 –66, A3 – 70. We were able to complete treatments of 97 animals within the third week of April 2018.
A total of 58 street dogs were vaccinated against rabies. Our team did a total of 139 public interactions for rabies awareness and dog bite first aid.
