Animal Care on Wheels

The temperatures have dropped to the lowest of the season and all the street animals are finding it difficult to cope with this extreme weather. We have been receiving calls of many puppies mainly because it is the puppy season which is now in the middle of winter. 

Below is a summary of what our Animal Mobile Clinics did in the second week of December 2017.

Total new cases treated: 181

Total follow up cases: 124

Total cases closed (treatment completed): 86

Total cases admitted in our hospital: 07

Our three vans did a total of 305 visits as below:

A1: 126

A2: 104

A3: 75

The treatments of 305 animals are as below: 

Dogs: 297

Cats: 06

Cows: 02

86 dogs were vaccinated against rabies.

We have now started doing rabies awareness for communities when our vans are out treating animals. Our teams did a total of 150 interactions with public for awareness. We also give out printed hand-outs with information on rabies awareness, dog bite prevention, and dog bite first aid.

Winter is here and so is the puppy season of street dogs. We are getting so many calls for cases of puppies with ailments as well as injuries. The problem of street dog population can only be dealt with regular spay and neuter program. While we carry out a small scale project, it is a long battle for the dogs of our city.

We are also coming across animals that are suffering from cold due underlying medical conditions. When an animal is ill and is fighting some infection, it is unable to produce enough body heat to survive the harsh winter and they end up being even more ill.

We had a total of 291 cases in the first week of December 2017. Our three mobile clinics handled a total of 156 new cases, 135 follow up cases, and closed 103 cases.

Animal Mobile Clinic A1: attended 124 visits

Animal Mobile Clinic A3: attended 63 visits

Total number of animals treated were 276 dogs, 13 cats, and 02 cows.

09 cases were such that they needed admission in our hospital for further treatment. They will be released when fully recovered. Thank you donors for making this work possible!
