Restoring Hope: Psychosocial Support for the Most
By JACKSON AMEH | Project Leader
The trauma of bullying and gender-based violence often leaves students with deep emotional wounds. Without intervention, these can lead to lifelong struggles with depression, anxiety, and self-worth. UNICEF reports that mental health concerns are rising sharply among Nigerian adolescents, yet few have access to adequate support.
Our project prioritizes psychosocial care for 150 of Makurdi’s most vulnerable students. Through one-on-one counseling, group therapy, and integration into peer-support clubs, we help students process trauma and build resilience. Teachers and counselors trained in trauma-informed care ensure that every child receives timely, compassionate intervention.
By donating, you restore hope for those who need it most. You enable healing, empower recovery, and provide a foundation for academic and personal success. Let’s make sure no child faces trauma alone—and every student in Makurdi has the chance to heal and thrive.

Building Bridges: Engaging Parents and the sch
By JACKSON AMEH | Project Leader
True change in school safety requires partnership beyond the classroom. Many parents and community members in Makurdi are unaware of the extent of bullying and GBV, or they may accept it as a cultural norm. According to a Nigerian study, parental engagement is a key predictor of successful child protection outcomes in schools.
This project brings parents, traditional leaders, and local authorities to the table. Through community forums, sensitization campaigns, and collaborative policy development, we’re building bridges of understanding and accountability. Parents are educated on recognizing signs of trauma and the importance of supporting their children’s mental health.
Your support funds these outreach efforts—ensuring the whole community is invested in protecting its children. Together, we can establish a culture of vigilance, support, and zero tolerance for violence in and around schools.
With your partnership, Makurdi’s children will know they are valued and protected not just by their schools, but by the entire community.

Empowerment Through Peer Leadership
By JACKSON AMEH | Project Leader
Peer influence is powerful—especially in adolescence. Studies show that students are more likely to confide in friends than in adults when facing bullying or abuse. Yet, without guidance, peers may be ill-equipped to provide support or intervene safely.
Our project leverages peer leadership by establishing 20 student-led support clubs across Makurdi schools. These clubs become safe havens where students can share, learn, and mobilize against bullying and GBV. Club members receive training in empathy, conflict resolution, and mental health first aid, enabling them to assist peers in distress and connect them to adult help when needed.
With 3,500 students sensitized through targeted workshops, we’re catalyzing a culture shift: stigma is reduced, help-seeking is normalized, and students become active participants in their own safety and wellbeing.
Your donation empowers the next generation to lead with compassion and courage. By supporting peer initiatives, you ensure that every child has access to a network of allies—making schools safer, stronger, and more inclusive from the inside out.
