Theres been a heat wave for the past few months, in the UK and also in our Kitchens.
We've been spicing things up by introducing participants of our CooksForce project to different ways of flavouring food.
For example did you know you could subsitute Agave for honey or sugar. Much better for your health and half the sugar
Try Cumin to add a Middle Eastern flavour. The spice as well as being one of the most popular in the world has a strong, highly fragrant savory spice and provides the unmistakable smell and taste of classic falafel or hummus
Add Nutmeg to dessert dishes and porridge and a pinch into your bologanse. It adds extra flavour to a hot chocolate too.
Flavour your coffee with Cardamom pods to give it an Arabic flavour.
Turmeric is found in many dishes, mostly meat and vegetables recipes adding a yellow colour to rice. It is only used in ground form and has a bitter, medium flavor so use sparingly.
All these spices can be found very cheaply in local markets and shops and really change the flavour of normal dishes into something very spectacular.
So we've been sharing our knowledge with locals and learning from them to.
Please keep supporting us to Cook, Eat, Share and learn
