The past three months has seen alot of great things happening on our Girl Impact project.
After the long search of land where the Community Center will be built we have finally found one and the first phase has been signed off and we have paid 60% of the asking price. As soon as the title deed is out we will be able to start the construction works of the community center and the garden will be moved the new land as well.
On the other hand our Grade 5 girls from Linda South Community School have really been enjoying and learning a great deal of information from the farm. They’ve learned the importance of patience, growth and teamwork. The farm has taught them lessons that can’t be taught in a classroom and the girls are definitely seeing the fruits of their labor. But although the farm has seen many up, we have also seen a few downs. After our last harvest, the farm experienced a few attaches from goats and cows to even elephants. But despite these unfortunate events, our girls have learned that resilience is an essential part of life and when you work together you can do anything!
Other than the gardening activity with girls; time and time again we discussed physical health and how to keep our bodies fit but when is the right time to talk about mental health? We started discussing the importance of knowing your emotions and being mindful of your mental state. These small discussions help our girls to develop a solid understanding of the why mental health is just as important as our physical health.
All these great things has been possible with the help of volunteers.
Thank you very much for the support both financially, physcially, materially. Looking forward to achieving more great things.
