Solar lamp-A dream of poor student in Bangladesh

It’s been more than a year since the pandemic started last year; most of the time student’s stayed inside their house to avoid being infected from covid-19 virus.  Schools also stopped and children’s study their lesson and modules at home.  Major portions of the Sundarbans coastal region of Bangladesh are lacked of electricity. More than 80% people lives here below poverty line. Due to their poverty, parents can hardly purchase Kerosene for their children’s education purpose.

Impact:

Now, after the distribution of the solar lamp, solar generator and solar battery, education of coastal areas school students’ has improved.3000 coastal families of the Sundarbans coastal region union are now using renewable energy. Local government declared Banisanta union as a solar union.

A supported school going children express his feelings ‘‘I am so grateful to BEDS and honorable donors for creating opportunities to continue my study at night by using solar light. Some of my school friends are going to drop out from schools as they can’t study at night for increased price of kerosene. For that reason my academic result mark was very poor. After getting solar lamp, I continue my study and my academic result is highly improved. Some of my school friends are going to drop out from schools as they can’t study at night for increased price of kerosene.
