Solar Lamp for Students Education in Bangladesh

Major portions of the coastal region of Bangladesh are lacked of electricity. More than 90% people of the Sundarbans coastal region lives in the poverty line. Villages are enveloped in darkness after the sunset. Due to their poverty, parents can hardly purchase Kerosene and electric from the National greed line for their children’s education purpose. As a result, school students of the coastal areas can’t continue their study at night for lack of electricity.

To continue student’s education lighting up villages at night, an initiative is underway to distribute different types of 3200 Solar Lamps and 504 solar home systems among Sundarbans coastal area families and install three solar stations. 

Impact:

80% of the community was Kerosene dependent but now this percentage has been reduced to 10% and expenditure for light reduced.

Feedbacks from the beneficiaries: 

A supported school going children express his feelings ‘‘with the support of this solar lamp, I can read at night. This solar light is blessing for me. Some of my friends are going to drop out from schools as they can’t study at night for increased price of kerosene. I request honorable donors to help them to continue study by giving solar lights. ’’

With your generous support, we impacted the lives of over 150 school student families in our Sundarbans coastal community, we are proud of the fact that the rate of dropout children is decreased. And women are using the solar lamp for them after evening supportive works.

As we enter 2023, we look forward to continuing to provide solar lamps to underprivileged students for their continuations of educational programs and supportive services that help women and children through their journeys of overcoming darkness of night.
