Sundarbans coastal people of Bangladesh are living in the dark. Villages remained in darkness after the sunset. Women use kerosene lamps or able to cook food on day light only. Students have to skip their study hours at night. To encourage students in education and lighting up villages at night, an initiative is underway to distribute different types of 2800 Solar Lamps and 504 solar home systems among Sundarbans coastal area families and install three solar stations.
Impact:
80% of the community used Kerosene but now they reduced to 20% and expenditure for brining light in the night time become low.
Feedbacks from the beneficiaries:
A supported school going boy express his feelings ‘‘with the support of this solar lamp, now I can read at night. This solar light is a miracle for me. Some of my friends are going to drop out from schools as they can’t study at night because their families can’t afford increased price of kerosene. I request to the honorable donors to help them into continue their study by giving solar lights’’
We would like to thank all our donors for being so kind to us and we hope that our kind hearted donors will spread out their helping hands for the betterment of the underprivileged coastal students by starting monthly recurring donations;
