Katie went with her husband and three children to Germany right after the kids got out of school in June. It was supposed to be a one month vacation. But when it came time for them to come home, her husband told them they are not returning to the USA. He had taken their airline tickets and passports for "safe keeping" earlier in the trip.
When Katie called us she describer her husband as a very difficult man. He had to have his way or else the screaming and the name calling would begin. She had always done her best to keep him calm. But she didn't want to stay in Germany. She was sure he would become physically violent if she said she wanted to take the kids and go home.
She overheard her husband giving a 30 day notice to their landlord. He then called his brother and told him to go to the house and put everything into storage.
He told Katie she could not leave because of the Hague Convention. In this case, that was not a problem.
Katie was able to find their passports but not the expired airline tickets. She thinks he may have cashed them in.
Katie had no money of her own. Because of donations like yours we were able to fly Katie and the kids back home before the 30 day notice was up. They are back in their house! Katie knows when she files for divorce her husband will be angry. She is so thankful to be home where she has support of her family.
