When Scarlett first emailed Pathways she felt so defeated. When she and her husband moved to Indonesia two years ago she was excited to live in an exotic country. Her husband had been emotionally and verbally abusive at home but blamed it on work stress. Indonesia would be a new, fresh start.
The first year the insults and threats slowly increased. But this past yeat her husband had slapped and hit her multiple times. Scarlett just couldn't take anymore.
Covid posed travel problems and she felt ashamed to ask her parents for help. A Pathways email advocate helped Scarlett with resources, a safety plan and emotional support over several weeks as she planned her escape.
Scarlett is back home in the USA and living with her parents. She is happy and relieved to be home. Scarlett has a lot of healing to do, but because of donrors like you, she is safe. Thank you!
