Jessica began emailing us for help last year. She felt trapped, alone and in fear of her abuser harming their son Anthony more than he already had. So far, Jessica had been taking the brunt of her husband's abuse. But during the pandemic her abusive husband became more and more agitated and angry and started yelling at Anthony and insulting him.
One night, in a fit of rage, he shoved Anthony onto the floor and he grazed his head on the bed post. That was the final straw for Jessica.
Watching Anthony wide eyed and terrified of his father was becoming too much. They neded to get out!
Over several months, our crisis email advocate Kate helped Jessica put a plan together and contnued to provide emotional support. When her abuser started going back to work in the office two days per week, Jessica and Anthony were ready. With only one small suitcase each they raced to the airport and boarded a flight back home.
Jessica hopes that one day her soon to be x-husband will get the help he needs and he can have a relationship with Anthony again. But for now, they are just happy to be safe at home back in the USA.
Without suporters like you, successful outcomes like Jessica and Anthony's would not be possible. Thank you for your continued belief in our efforts to help victims come home.
