I visited our Uganda project in Agwata recently in August and September. I had not been to Uganda since the coronavirus epidemic began. It was exciting to visit our Agwata clinic once again and to see firsthand how busy it has become during the past couple of years. The adjacent maternity hut is also heavily used since there are usually three to four babies delivered there each week!
Because our clinic is in an area with no running water and no electricity, expectant mothers have to bring their own flashlights or lanterns to provide light at the maternity hut and bring along another friend or family member to help them carry any needed water from the bore hole which is thankfully right across the road at the school.
The clinic itself does have its own solar lighting in the delivery and patient visit area. But until now, there had been no lighting provided in the maternity hut where the mothers who have delivered can spend the night until they feel rested to walk back home the next day.
Thanks to your help through this project, we were able to buy a solar panel, wiring, and light fixtures which were installed at the maternity hut in mid-September. Women in Agwata are very excited about this recent upgrade!
We're very grateful for your help in supporting the Agwata clinic. Please feel free to share this update with one or two key people you know that feel strongly about helping women with their health and giving newborn babies and good start in life!
