Our local community Health Center II in Agwata village, Uganda, continues to help the community stay healthy during these difficult times. Until recently, Uganda had about a 2% vaccination rate and in late May and June, most of its hospitals were at capacity treating patients severely ill with Covid-19.
Where Agwata is located in rural northern Uganda, it has experienced few Covid cases due to its remoteness. But nonetheless has felt extreme effects from the lockdowns, transportation limits, curfews, etc. as a result of Covid. So, our clinic staff and teachers were quite excited when recently in late September/early October vaccines were available for teachers and those needing their second shots, as well as other community members.
Agwata was fortunate that a medical team from the district came right to our local Health Center II to administer vaccine shots!
We thank you for your continued support of the clinic these past few months so that the clinic can respond promptly wherever and in whatever ways are needed to help safeguard the community's health and make sure that sufficient nursing staff and the most needed medicines are available to the community.
We encourage you to share this project update with friends, family and co-workers that might be interested in helping support this life saving health outreach to a very remote northern Uganda community!
