Playing and Learning at the Farm is an educational activity that introduces children to agriculture and livestock through direct, hands-on experiences. Learning activities conducted in farming and livestock areas provide not only meaningful educational value but also enjoyable experiences that stimulate children’s curiosity and support their physical and motor development.
Playgroups and kindergartens widely use this learning model as an alternative educational approach that helps children understand various aspects of their surrounding environment. By interacting directly with animals, plants, and farming activities, children gain concrete learning experiences that are difficult to obtain in classroom-based settings.
Simple practices—such as feeding or bottle-feeding lambs—allow children to develop empathy, responsibility, and confidence when interacting with living beings. Through these activities, children begin to understand how food sources are obtained through cultivation and farming processes, fostering early awareness of food systems and the relationship between humans and nature.
Additionally, farm-based learning encourages children to explore their environment independently and with courage. Outdoor exploration enhances motor skills, coordination, and sensory development, while also fostering self-confidence and promoting social interaction among peers. Overall, playing and learning at the Farm provides a holistic educational experience that integrates play, learning, and environmental awareness in a natural and engaging setting.
