Don't miss this if you are a parent!

By Abdulrazak Madi | Project Leader

As a new school year approaches, families begin preparing for a new chapter of learning. Books are gathered, school bags are prepared, and hopes accompany every child as they step into a new year, carrying their curiosity, dreams, and aspirations with them.

But returning to school does not feel the same for every child.

For many orphaned children in Syria, the start of a new school year can bring mixed emotions—the desire to learn alongside a deep need for safety and stability. After experiencing difficult circumstances, having someone who listens to them, encourages them, and believes in their ability to keep going can become an important part of preparing them to return to learning.

That is why Masarat’s support goes beyond providing education. It also creates spaces that help students prepare emotionally for returning to school. Through psychosocial support, student activities, and academic guidance, students find a space to express their concerns, build confidence, and regain a sense that they are ready to begin a new chapter.

These steps may seem simple, but for a child who has experienced prolonged instability, they can make a meaningful difference. Starting the school year knowing that someone believes in them, cares about their progress, and wants to see them succeed can help them move forward with greater confidence.

Because of your support, our students are not entering a new school year with books and notebooks alone. They are carrying with them a stronger sense of confidence, belonging, and hope.

Thank you for helping make the beginning of a new school year a new beginning in safety, confidence, and hope for so many children—and for helping them take their next steps toward the future knowing that someone is standing beside them.
