Onike's Progress

By Amy Baty-Herbert | Project Leader

Project Supporters,

We introduced Onike in November 2020 as a special needs student who was struggling significantly at school.  In December of 2020, a private teacher was hired to assist Onike with her education thanks in part to your support.

Onike’s teacher, Arabia, sent a progress report this past week saying

“I started working with Onike who has a learning disability in December 2020. At 13, she lacked the basic foundation of a preschooler.

Within these few months of working with her, we’ve achieved a lot in terms of her education and safe transition into her becoming a teenager. We are presently trying to connect words in order to get her ready to read and pronounce words on her own.”

Arabia also sent some video clips of her working with Onike this past week showcasing how far she’s come.  You can watch Onike’s progress in this video.

We are delighted with the progress Onike has made and what her future holds!  We invite you to help change more girls' lives. Making a monthly donation is the most effective way to help girls get their education, but every dollar donated makes a difference!

If you are not yet a recurring donor and would like to sign up for a recurring donation go here. Please also share this with your contacts and invite them to consider supporting girls' education in Sierra Leone.

If you have any questions, please feel free to email us at GlobalGiving@developafrica.org.

With great appreciation,

Amy and the Develop Africa team
