Project Report | May 29, 2021
No Shame. All Gain.

By Amy Baty-Herbert | Project Leader

Project Supporters,

May 28th was Menstrual Hygiene Day which focused on promoting good menstrual health and hygiene (MHH) for all women and girls.

Many adolescent girls face stigma, harassment, and social exclusion during menstruation. Menstrual health and hygiene interventions can help overcome these obstacles. Not only do they fulfill the unmet demand for menstrual hygiene products; they also protect dignity, build confidence, and strengthen sexual and reproductive health, particularly among adolescents– Unicef

Thanks to your support sanitary pads are being distributed to girls in need in Sierra Leone. However, this is an ongoing monthly need as most sanitary pads are one-time use only and most girl’s menstruation lasts 5 or more days each month.

We challenge you to make a donation in support of Menstrual Hygiene Day

Include  #MHDay2021 #ItsTimeForAction as a note with your donation and your donation will go directly towards providing more sanitary pads to girls in need in Sierra Leone.

Your ongoing support will help to continue to provide sanitary pads to girls in Sierra Leone each month.  If you are not yet a recurring donor, we warmly invite you to consider setting up a recurring donation. Even a few dollars a month will go a long way.

Please also share this with your contacts and invite them to consider supporting this worthy, ongoing project.  If you have any questions, please feel free to email us at GlobalGiving@developafrica.org.

With great appreciation,

Amy and the Develop Africa team
