The Opportunity for a Better Life

Danika, 2008 Graduate, Christel Hosue Mexico

When Danika was only 6, her parents separated, and she was faced with the difficult decision of whether to live with her mother or father. After weighing her relationship with both, Danika decided life with her father would be more stable and supportive. The two live with Danika’s grandmother and uncle in a tiny dwelling where Danika shares a bedroom with her father, and her uncle sleeps on the sofa.

In 2008, Danika graduated from Christel House Mexico. Danika is now in her final year of university, where she’s studying to become a clinical psychologist. She plans to use her skills to help others find solutions to their problems.

“Because of Christel House, I’m in the best university in Mexico City—Universidad Nacional Autonoma de Mexico. Christel House has provided me with opportunities to be a better student, a better psychologist and a better person,” she says. “When people tell me I’m successful, I think it is because I follow the four Christel House values—respect, responsibility, integrity and independence. For me, those are the basic rules to live a better life.”

Your support of ‘Educate a Mexico Girl-Child from the Barrios’ is helping young girls and women, like Danika, reach their full potential. Thank you for helping these students get the education they need for a brighter future.
