Support Malaysian kids with learning disabilities

Updates of our major events and happening from December 2019 till 17 February 2020 : -

1. Annual graduation party hosted by our all-time faithful sponsor, ie The Hatten Hotel Melaka, organised on 27-11-2019 to officially send-off 7 graduated students for the year 2019.
2. We had planned and successfully set up an Occupational Therapy room to meet the sensory needs of our students during our final term break in December 2019. The OT facilities are meant to add value to both our Early Intervention and School Age Programmes as the ultimate objective of it is to facilitate and enhance the learning efficiency of our students. We are again very thankful for the financial support of some good samaritans to start off with the very basic facilities and hopefully to add on gradually from time to time.
3. We started our year 2020 with a total of 53 students of which 28 EIP, 18 SAP and  7 YAP with the hope of recruiting more student with the expansion of the teachers. 
4. The women bible study group who has regularly supported the cafe work of our Young Adult Programme initiated the Chinese New Year Lousang luncheon in our Centre on 12-2-2020.
5. Moving forward we hope to improve further our service quality with more emphasis on staff training.

Coffee Session on 13/09/19

Our invited speaker for the event was Ms Ng Lai Thin, Project Officer from the National Early Childhood Intervention Council (NECIC) and she shared on "How to prepare and support your child for school". It was an interactive session where she shared tips and advice to parents and caregivers as they make preparations for their child’s education journey.

Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) Workshop on 11/10/19 & 12/10/19

This event was organised in partnership with NECIC at Oriental Hospital. The session was conducted by Dr Diana Wee, a consultant clinical psychologist who has experience in supporting adults, children and families on the autism spectrum, both in Malaysia and Australia.

We have a total of 70 participants consisting of Wings Melaka staff, parents/caregivers and service providers. It was an interactive workshop where participants were put into different groups as they discussed personal case studies of their respective child as well as share tips with one another. The aim of the training was to build understanding of the PBS principles, practical skills on behaviour assessments and preventive measures to be taken so as to not escalate the behaviour, but to help manage it.

YAP Outing on 23/10/19

YAP trainees had an outing to AEON Melaka with their trainers and they had a wonderful time there. They even celebrated one of their friends’ birthday during lunch at KFC!

Job Coach Introductory Workshop in Melaka on 01/11/19

The event was co-organised by Autism Initiatives Malaysia (AIM) and Wings Melaka. It was sponsored by Hatten Group and Yayasan Gamuda, and the workshop was conducted by personnel from Enabling Academy, Yayasan Gamuda. Invited corporate participants who attended the workshop were introduced to Job Coach and its principles.

Our YAP trainees had continued support for their catering services as well as for cafe operations throughout the past few months.  

To-date, we have 34 students in EIP, 17 students in SAP and 9 trainees in YAP - supported by a staff of 5 EIP teachers, 2 SAP teachers, 2 YAP trainers, 1 administrator cum YAP trainer, 1 head coach and 1 executive director.
