Why a TV station? 75-80% of the Afghan population live in rural areas where providing education, particularly to women and girls, is difficult because of security. The people in these areas are often without access to even the most basic of information on topics such as health, legal rights, and current affairs. Many Afghan women have no access to education and learn by hearing and observing.
The TV station will provide programs to more than 2 million Afghans, particularly women and children who have no access to such information. Viewers will learn how to read and write and how to stay healthy. They will learn about their history, culture and human rights. They will be able listen to Afghan music and poetry and see Afghan musicians and poets. They will have the ability to call in, ask questions and express their views. Their minds will be opened. They will learn critical thinking skills and be able to solve their own problems.
The station is in the finals stages of preparation waiting for final permits and the purchase of some additional equipment.
Thanks for your support.
