As the year draws to a close we reflect on what we have done and how this has changed lives for the better. As AIL continues to assist the TV station start broadcasting the staff are certain about the positive impact the programs will have on people and the exponential increase in outreach the station will give to AIL programming.

Recently, AIL worked with a Herat TV station NAB TV to hold a televised public speaking workshop for 50 youth which aimed to empower youth to be better leaders. This is the sort of outreach the new TV station will add to in a significant way.

Newsflash: Dr. Yacoobi is one of BBC 100 Women 2017!

We are delighted to let you know that the building work, both exterior and interior, needed for the TV station is now complete. This work was an addition to the Herat office building and the top most floor will house the new TV Meraj station.

Staff are continuing to work on programming and have expanded the range of topics they want to include. Additional topics added more recently to the list include: roundtable discussions, capacity building programs, peace issues and entertainment segments. The management is also working closely with government officials to ensure all necessary permits have been obtained and all requirements fulfilled, which of course takes time.

Everyone is looking forward to the first broadcasts. Dr. Yacoobi said, “I knew with TV we could reach more people especially in a society that is not educated, people learn from seeing something rather than studying. The TV station will have programs on peace because we need to teach people more awareness about peace and teach them to get along with each other and put aside their differences.”
