The last couple of months have been eventful, and we want to thank each one of you for your support, encouragement and investment into the lives of our children. The best news of the quarter is that Chuimayo the oldest of our children has finished his schooling and joined in to a reputed college for an Engineering Degree. It was all tears of joy trickling down our eyes as we bid him adieu for a greater future away from home. Anyway we have already started looking forward to his first vacation.
Summer Break Internship
During the summer break this year, Thotsem, Monisha and Bhavana interned at the Reaching Hand office. It was a great opportunity for them to see how we functioned, and in turn be a part of giving back to society. As part of their internship, our kids hand-created beautiful quilling thank-you cards that we now use to thank all our supporters and well-wishers.
Back to School
As the new academic year began, we had to shift our kids from Brighton School to R.K. Gautam Techno School, as Brighton was not planning to continue with classes after 8th Grade.
Monisha and Thotsem have joined for 11th Grade in ISC (Commerce). They scored 85% in their ICSE Boards. Being a new School they had to make a new set of friends. Thotsem has got into the football team and Monisha has got into the athletics squad, so that made the transition smoother.
Tanu's Recovery
Tanu is back to school, on a wheelchair, specially made so as to rest his operated leg in a horizontal plane. The School authorities have been very supportive and his cheerful face makes it all seem worthwhile. In a month`s time he will be going through another surgery to take off the implants which helped straighten his leg and to get his patella into position. Then he would have a plaster on his entire leg for may be another 45 days. Praying that we would see him walk erect without his wheel chair soon.
Our Newest Members
We had to let go of some of our 18 year olds, with a heavy heart, as they do not come under the juvenile Act and as per law cannot stay with us. We have ensured that they are with the right relatives and also continuing with their education. However, we have several new members to our family, including baby Sanha who is our littlest. She is growing fast, keeping us all in splits with her pranks.
Building Progress
The construction work is steadily progressing, and we hope to complete the first phase soon that would house 50 girls and 50 boys. Phase one will also include a playground and a cafeteria. Hoping that we will be able to move in the children there by December.
Thank you again for all your support. Do continue to support us as we head towards the completion of the First Phase of our New Home building project and continue to build the lives of our Children. Thank you for always being our pillars of support.
