Hello,

This is Dinora. I am writing my first letter of this year. Happy new year to all of you. I cannot believe It’s already 2023 year. May this year be filled with peace, love and laughter for all.

In this letter I would like to share with you one day of a refugees’ life. Simon from Peace Winds filming team stayed at Patria Lukoil shelter and experienced the life of a refugee. He sent a video and photo report which I would like to share with you.

One day from refugees’ life

<Episode 1> Dinner at Patria Lukoil shelter of Ukrainian refugees

Approximately at 6:30 p.m., the dinner time begins with the announcement of "Kushat!" which means (Let's eat) in russian.

For dinner tonight is a white sauce chicken saffron rice bowl, served with tomatoes and cucumbers. It's not like home-cooked meal, but with all necessary nutrition in it. Healthy eating sometimes is boring. So everyone brings salt and ketchup in their pockets. And the refugees shyly hand it to Simon.

The local economy of Moldova, where the shelter is located, is not good, so it’s not easy for the government provide good food for everyone. But they try provide them healthy food even it's not always delicious. When Simon asked what is the favorite menu of refugees they all said ‘Bulgarian Pepper, Bulgarian Pepper’’. It's meal with a rice and meat in paprika. They said they look forward to the day when this meal is in the menu.

This ridiculous war has been going on for close to a year. And besides, the weather is terribly cold. Literally freezing outside. It is really hard to be in a situation where you endlessly waiting for the end of the war and waiting for the day when you can go back to sweet home and cook whatever you want to eat for dinner.

We hope that in 2023 these sufferings will surely come to end and very soon they will be at their home eating ‘Bulgarian pepper’ whenever they want and as much as they want.

Warm wishes yours,

Dinora (PeaceWinds Korea)
