Breakfast of Ukraine Refugees of shelter

By Dinora | Intern

Hello, It’s Dinora, a representative of Peace Winds Korea.

I hope you, your all loved ones are safe and well following this week’s series of earthquakes affecting communities across Türkiye and Syria.

I know that the recent earthquake in Turkey and Syria is an urgent concern and our emergency relief team are also in Turkey now saving lifes. But also we must not forget about the ongoing needs of Ukrainian refugees. It is important that we continue to support them in any way we can. So I am interested in continuing the story of the Ukrainian refugee shelter in Moldova supported by Peace Winds Korea, specifically focusing on Simon's experience spending a night with the refugees."

Breakfast of Ukrainian refugees

Breakfast begins at 7:30 at Patria Lukoil Shelter. The breakfast menu is cookies, butter, and apple pie. There is also bread, so people who want to eat sandwiches can make it simple and eat it.

Receipt for distribution of supplies begins at 9 a.m. every day. And the shelter distribute the package not only for the shelter refugee, but also the refugees from other areas of Moldova also come to receive supplies. You can receive the goods by registering the application for the distribution of goods between 9:00 and 16:00.

The reception desk first checks whether the refugee is registered with passport information, how many family members are there, and if there are children under the age of 3 to form the package. If you have children, you can also choose a "child package" and when the list of supplies comes out, you can sign it and take it. If you need additional items, you just can write down the items you need on the item request form and request additional items. But unfortunately we cannot meet all the demands of refugees. The package includes flour, milk, canned food, etc.

Sanitary set includes toilet paper, shampoo, laundry detergent, diaper, etc. We open a warehouse every day so that refugees can come to pick up supplies when they need them.

Simon, the PeaceWinds cameraman, said, "I felt that I would like this support to continue because the humanitarian package is like a 'hope of the day', it help them to find peace. Because most of them spend their days anxious about uncertain tomorrow and vague future.“

During these times, I want to share a brief glimpse into a refugee's life. However, I have so much more to tell about their experiences and struggles, and will continue to do so in the future. I would also like to take this opportunity to express my gratitude towards the generous donors who have supported and continue to support these individuals during their time of need.

Also I would like to share some of the comments that we have received from our generous donors on GlobalGiving. It is important for us to let our donors know that we read every comment and are endlessly grateful for their support.

For instance, we recently received this comment from one of our generous donors on GlobalGiving:

“My son in Berlin is working with NGOs to get needed supplies to people in Ukraine”

“Knowing that the refuges in Ukraine are going through the worst thing they could experience”

“Thank you for working to help this group of people displaced due to war!”

You can also comments & suggestions on Report.

We would love to hear your feedback, comments & Suggestion on our program.

Gratefully yours,

Dinora from Peace Winds Korea
