This report will describe the progress made for the months of July, August and September. During this period the following progress has been made.
The onsite feeding activities continue to benefit many children in Kangemi and other neighbourhoods. During this time the record of children increased by 27. We are averaging 277 children who come for meals every Saturday. Occasionally we were able to add bananas to the meals as part of providing and maintaining a properly balanced diet for the children. The increase in this number is due to the high cost of living. Many families are not able to afford food.
The ngao foundation also managed to give dry food to a total of 15 families during this time. The foundation has also introduced porridge to children who are under the age of 10 and are at risk of facing malnutrition beneficiaries of this initiative are 23. Cases of hunger are also affecting families in informal settlements as confirmed in most of our data.
We also introduced mother-to-child nutrition training activity, the aim of this activity is to provide nutritional knowledge to pregnant women and lactating mothers. Those mothers whose children were at risk of malnutrition were offered a packet of porridge flour and relief food to try and mitigate the challenge.
Challenges.
The increase in the high cost of living has resulted in many children facing starvation, this has also resulted in an increased number of children and even grown-ups showing up for meals. We are seeking more funds to make sure that no child goes to sleep on an empty stomach.
